How to get to Adelaide
By Coach
Several coach carriers service the Adelaide Central Bus Station, located in Franklin Street, Adelaide, from other Australian capital cities and regional centres. Carriers include Greyhound, Premier Stateliner and Vline.
By Road
South Australia has a good network of public roads and highways to navigate if you are driving to Adelaide. National highways leading to Adelaide include the Sturt Highway (A20), Dukes Highway (A8), and Eyre Highway (A1).
By Train
Keswick Railway Terminal is approximately three kilometres from Adelaide’s city centre, and is serviced by the Overland to Melbourne four times per week, the India Pacific between Perth and Sydney twice a week and the Ghan, which runs from Adelaide to Alice Springs and Darwin.
By Plane
Adelaide boasts Australia’s newest international airport, which opened in October 2005. Adelaide is serviced by five international and three domestic carriers, with regular direct flights to and from all major Australian cities. Adelaide Airport is approximately 20 minutes by taxi to the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The Royal Adelaide Hospital Residential wing offers single room accommodation with communal kitchen, laundry and uni-sex bathroom facilities. The Residential wing used to be the nurses’ home and has twelve floors. It is located at the rear of the hospital (northern end). The rooms are basic and linen is provided. The kitchen utensils are often scarce so if you are planning a long stay it may be worth bringing a few basics. The residential wing is rented commercially to mainly overseas students. The advantages of the Residential wing are that it is onsite, cheap and ideal in emergency situations when you just want a bed and a shower. Please note that it does not have air conditioning so can become warm if there is a long hot spell of weather.
